GlamorInky Friday #17

For those of you familiar with my GlamorInky games, welcome back! The rest of you are also very welcome, but you're probably wondering, “What exactly is a GlamorInky?” Here’s the deal: the first half of the word is part of my name and is about glamour, the second part, “Inky”, means “winner” in sweepstakes lingo. GlamorInky Friday is a trivia game for glamorous winners. It is generally about gemstones and jewelry, but not always. Since this will be the first time playing for many of you I've made this edition easy with a straightforward presentation, but my games usually have a bit of a twist and turn to the language and clues.

For Glamorinky Friday #17 your goal is to correctly guess the name of the semiprecious stone beads shown with this post. This distinct stone is prized for its natural shades of purple, violet, and lavender with streaks and swirls that may include grey, black and white. The photo shown with this post has been enlarged to show details; the actual size of the rondelles pictured ranges from 9-10mm in diameter.

Email your name and answer to this address. Please use “GlamorInky Friday #17” as your subject. Please do not post any of the GlamorInky answers anywhere on the internet, it takes the fun out of it.

Correct entries will be included in a drawing and one name will be selected to receive an item made with one or more of the beads shown above. The winner will be contacted during the first week of January 2008, and their name along with a photo of the prize and its ARV will be published on this blog.

No purchase necessary; a purchase of any kind will not increase your chances of winning. GlamorInky Friday #17 starts at 4:00 PM EST on 12-07-07 and ends at 11:59 PM EST on 12-31-07. One entry per person/household, age 18+, USA only. Before you enter please read the OFFICIAL RULES and PRIVACY POLICY

Now here’s your main clue:

This stone is relatively new to the jewelry industry; it is only found in Russia and was discovered there in the 1940’s. It was introduced to the Western world in the 1970’s.

Good Luck!
