Previously on Dance Moms, studio owner Abby Lee Miller had Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) members Nia Frazier and Kalani Hilliker compete head-to-head, supposedly for a solo spot at Nationals, but when Nia comes out on top Abby changes her mind. This week on the Dance Moms season 5 finale (season 5, episode 31) titled "Chaos at Nationals," Abby changes her mind again, and Nia gets a solo at Nationals, the team's most important annual competition. Also, Abby opens a new studio in Los Angeles, ALDCLA.

Previously on Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miler continued her practice of having the girls in the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) compete head-to-head for a solo at Nationals. Last week Maddie Ziegler won over Kendall Vertes; this week on Dance Moms season 5, episode 30 "Nia vs. Kalani, Winner Takes All," Nia Frazer and Kalani Hilliker face-off. Also, the ALDC dances against their main West Coast competition – Murrieta Dance Project (MDP) – and Nia Frazier films a video for her Coco Jones collaboration song "Slay," and it features the fabulous Carmen Electra.

Previously on Dance Moms, the power struggle between studio owner Abby Lee Miller and Kira Girard (Kalani Hilliker's mom) continued after Kira once again invited a choreographer into Abby's classes without permission. By episode's end, Kira and Kalani walked out on the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC). This week on Dance Moms season 5, episode 28 titled "Solo Battle, Round 1," Kendall Vertes and JoJo Siwa dance head-to-head in a bid to score a solo at Nationals; the the ALDC has a re-match against the Candy Apples Dance Center, who are now being led by Jeanette Cota (Ava Cota's mom), owner of the Broadway Dance Academy; Kira and Kalani return.

Previously on Dance Moms, studio owner Abby Lee Miller didn't show up for rehearsals or the competition attended by her team, the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC). Abby's absence came on the heels of a bitter argument she had with Kira Girard (Kalani Hilliker's mom). This week on Dance Moms season 5, episode 27 titled "Abby vs. Kira… AGAIN," the two continue to fight for the same reason: Kira has once again invited a choreographer into Abby's studio without permission; this time it's Kalani's hometown coach, Alexa Moffett.

Previously on Dance Moms, teacher Abby and Kira Girard (Kalani Hilliker's mom) argued bitterly after Kira invited a choreographer into the studio without Abby's permission. In the aftermath, Abby refused a hug from Kalani, which led to an angry (by Kira) and tearful (by Kalani) exit. This week on Dance Moms season 5 episode 26 "Where in the World Is Abby Lee Miller?," the mother-daughter duo returns, but Abby does not. In Abby's absence, Gianna "Gia" Martello manages the team, the girls vie for a spot in Nationals, and Jill (Kendall Vertes' mom) and Holly (Nia Frazier's mom) spar over perceived upstaging. This episode also features Shangela, who years ago taught Nia how to do the "death drop.

Previously on Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller and her Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) lost a competition to rival Erin Babbs and the Murrieta Dance Project (MDP). This week on Dance Moms season 5, episode 25 "Abby vs. Kira," the moms believe the ALDC's losing streak stems from lack of classes since they moved to LA. When Kira Girard (Kalani Hilliker's mom) calls in choreographer Tessandra Chavez without asking Abby, it ignites a fight between Abby and Kira, and that jeopardizes Kalani's spot on the team. In happier news, Mackenzie Ziegler was away most of the week filming a guest spot on Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.

Previously on Dance Moms, studio owner Abby Lee Miller brought in celebrity choreographer Travis Payne to work with the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC), and Mackenzie Ziegler beat her famous older sister Maddie in a competition. This week on Dance Moms season 5, episode 24 titled "West Coast Strikes Back," the ALDC competes against rival Erin Babbs and her talented team known as the Murrieta Dance Project (MDP), and the moms question Melissa (Maddie and Mackenzie's mom) when she doesn’t step in after Abby takes a lead role away from Mackenzie and gives it to Maddie. Also in this episode, JoJo Siwa does a special solo for her grandmother.

Previously on Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller and her Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) officially moved to Los Angeles. Abby was preoccupied and didn't attend their first competition, but she did organize and emcee the premiere of Kendall Vertes' (aka Kendall K) premiere for her "Wear 'Em Out" video. This week on Dance Moms season 5, episode 23 titled "Maddie vs. Mackenzie." the Ziegler sisters and teammate JoJo Siwa compete against each other in the same age division, and the team works with celebrity choreographer Travis Payne, who brings a positive, happy, inspirational vibe to the ALDC.

Previously on Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller and her Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) were on tour in Australia where Nia Frazier (aka Nia Sioux) made her triumphant live debut singing "Star in Your Own Life." This week on Dance Moms Summer Premiere (season 5, episode 22) "Live From LA, It's Kendall K," the ALDC is back in the USA, but not in their Pittsburgh, PA hometown; they have officially moved to Los Angeles where Abby is opening ALDC-LA. Abby's lack of attention frustrates the team – she's busy working on her new studio and doesn't attend their competition – but she does make time to emcee the video premiere for "Wear 'Em Out" by Kendall Vertes (aka Kendall K).

Previously on Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller and the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) landed in Australia and performed at the ASTRA Awards. For the remainder of the trip though, Abby has excluded two of the girls – Nia Frazier and JoJo Siwa – from participating in the rest of the team's events. This week on "Dance Moms Down Under, Part 2" (season 5, episode 21), Holly (Nia's mom) makes a proactive decision and invites Mikey Minden (Nia's video director) to join them in Australia to produce Nia's live singing debut for "Star in Your Own Life." This makes Abby angry, of course, but Nia emerges triumphant with a brilliant performance (and she included JoJo!).

Previously on Dance Moms, studio owner Abby Lee Miller announced that the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) would be traveling to Australia. This week on season 5, episode 20 titled "Dance Moms Down Under, Part 1," the team arrives in Sydney and prepares for their performance at the ASTRA Awards, but Abby is stuck in the U.S. because she loses her passport. In addition to that drama, Abby schedules the team for additional appearances in Australia but excludes two of the girls, Nia Frazier and JoJo Siwa. Also, the adults on Dance Moms really like the word "s--t."

This week on the Dance Moms season 5, episode 18 mid-season finale titled "Showdown in Pittsburgh, Part 2," Abby Lee Miller and the ALDC are scheduled to compete with two rivals – Cathy Nesbitt Stein and her Candy Apples Dance Center (CADC) and Jeanette Cota and her Broadway Dance Academy (BDA) – but they are late for the show and risk disqualification.

Madison "Maddie" Ziegler, the 12-year-old phenom from reality TV show Dance Moms (Lifetime), is arguably the most famous dancer in the world right now, having starred in a trilogy of videos by pop chanteuse Sia: "Chandelier," "Elastic Heart," and the newly-released "Big Girls Cry," in which she runs through facial expressions and a mesmerizing, manic hand jive. In all three videos, directed by Sia and Daniel Askill and choreographed by Ryan Heffington, Maddie plays a young Sia while wearing the now-iconic costume of nude-colored leotard and platinum bob wig. With Sia's soaring vocals and Maddie's preternatural talent and lack of self-consciousness, they are an unforgettable duo.
