Zach Galifianakis Video with One.org and Funny or Die Promotes the Beginning of the End of AIDS

AIDS is no laughing matter. What is hilarious is how comedian and actor Zach Galifianakis and the Funny or Die website (owned by Will Farrell and Adam McKay) handle the dreaded disease. In a new PSA-like video, Galifianakis and Funny or Die team up with ONE.org (Bono’s poverty and preventable disease advocacy organization) and a star-studded cast (Sarah Silverman, Tracy Morgan, Marisa Tomei, Isaiah Mustafa, Chloë Moretz) to say silly things about the immediate future: 2015 to be exact.

Why 2015? Because America’s PEPFAR program – the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief started by George W. Bush in 2003 – and The Global Fund believe there is research being done that can virtually eliminate mother-to-child transmission of AIDS by 2015, that life-saving ARV medications and access to treatment for 15 million people can make inroads into a cure by 2015, and that innovative prevention techniques can drastically reduce new infections by 2015.

That can only happen if lawmakers reverse proposed budget cuts to life-saving AIDS programs and fulfill America’s commitments to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. And you can only let those lawmakers know you give damn if you visit ONE.org and sign their petition urging politicos to get on the ball. Do like Galifianakis says and “get off you lazy f*****g western asses” and sign that petition. Get involved. Tell them Bono sent you.
