SliCE owners Jason and Marlo Dilks have already mastered the art of gourmet pizza, and now for Fall 2013, they are refining and redefining their menu. SliCE Pizza, with its three locations (Rittenhouse Square and the Italian Market in Philadelphia, PA; Washington Township in Sewell, NJ) has upped its game by adding several new seasonal pizzas to their menu, and they are now offering something sweet: handmade donuts with chocolate sauce.

The first thing to know about all SliCE pizzas is that their hand-tossed crusts are wonderfully thin and crisp along the edges, and all of their pies are finished with Parmigiano-Reggiano (small pies are 12 inches, large pies are 17 inches).

Sausage and Peppers Pizza at SliCE
The first addition of the Fall season, Sausage and Peppers Pizza, has turned out to be so successful, SliCE has made it a regular menu item (they actually debuted a test run of this pizza in August). As soon as you open the box, you can see why. There are thick chunks of Maglio's sausage atop generous portions of mozzarella and provolone cheeses and caramelized onions. That would be tasty enough, but SliCE’s blend of peppers – roasted red peppers and long hots – made it even zestier.

The Granny Pizza at SliCE
For October and November, SliCE dropped a perfect Fall item: The Granny Pizza with sliced Granny Smith Apples, Gorgonzola cheese, cranberries and candied walnuts. The walnuts – sweet but not overpoweringly so – were a perfect crunchy combination with the thinly sliced green apples and flavorful, crumbled cheese.

SliCE Truffled Egg Pizza with Fontina Cheese, Artichoke, Fried Egg

Our favorite new pizza was SliCE's November menu addition: the Truffled Egg Pizza with Fontina cheese and artichoke topped with a fried egg and finished with white truffle oil. This pie was exceptional from the first bite to the last. The egg was soaked into every bite, and, when mixed with the oil, the slightly salty Fontina and the tender artichoke chunks made for a truly decadent meal.

No matter how full you are after eating these pizzas, you’ll definitely want to save room for SliCE’s new daily dessert addition of fresh, handmade donuts, cooked to order and served warm with chocolate dipping sauce. The slightly bitter chocolate and the substantial pizza dough donuts went well together.

All three SliCE locations are open daily, have eat-in sections, and offer delivery. SliCE's special Fall pies will be available through November. As part of their standard menu, SliCE offers options including vegan mozzarella, whole wheat dough and gluten free dough. For more info call the individual locations or visit SliCEPa.com.
