On Friday, February 21, and Saturday, February 22, Philadelphia's Roger Lee Dance Company will premiere its Black History Celebration Concert series in honor of Black History Month.  Both shows will begin at 8 PM at The Performance Garage, 1515 Brandywine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130.  Tickets are $20 at the door and $18 online.

For this special concert series, Artistic Director Roger Lee worked with six guest choreographers; Diane Matthews, Sonia James Pennington, Michael Nguyen, Areal Bell, Kamali Hill, and Ronnique Murray created the first act to illustrate slavery, segregation, integration, and urban culture. The second act showcases new choreography by Roger Lee. The show will feature over 25 dancers including Lee, Natalia Baxter, Areal Bell, Seth Jones, Karlee Markarian, and Jackie McLay, who will be accompanied by live soul, pop and rock music.

In the United States, Black History Month is held every February; Lee plans to make his dance company's Black History Celebration Concert an annual event.
