Stephen Starr Considers Opening Serpico Restaurant in NYC

Barely one year after getting his own first restaurant in partnership with restaurateur Stephen Starr, Chef Peter Serpico may be ready to take the plunge for a second location. This time, Serpico and Starr will venture back to Manhattan (that’s where Starr found Serpico, cooking famously for David Chang’s Momofuko), rather than the location of their first joint restaurant, Serpico on Philadelphia's world famous South Street.

Last June, we attended the pre-opening of Serpico’s South Street location, a handsome grey-bricked building where luxurious delights such as Steamed Egg Custard with Caviar ruled the roost. Then, on opening day, Glamorosi Magazine conducted an insightful interview with Chef Peter Serpico about his daily favorites and how he was slowly getting used to living in Philly and away from NYC.

Though there are no details yet as to Serpico-Starr-Manhattan timetables, or even locations (Starr just opened an El Vez outpost near Wall Street/Battery Park area, and gave an interview to Grub Street NY about his potential Serpico plans), it looks as if the chef may get to visit his old stomping grounds a little more often.
