Meghan Carnevale may have learned to love food while hanging in her Italian grandmother’s kitchen, but it was while living in the South of France for a year that she took her craft to the next level. That Carnevale successfully experimented with Mexican tastes and spices (at the urging of her Texas-born husband) while in France set the stage for her Philly-based food truck, Ranch Road Taco Shop. Starting on July 16, she brings Ranch Road's Mexican street food to Old City Philadelphia’s Serrano Restaurant with drink pairings to go with her cuisine.

Serrano is currently in a transition phase – the restaurant served it's last dinner on June 28 – and now owner Donal McCoy is revamping his restaurant’s look, cuisine and even its name for a scheduled September re-opening. Until that time, the McCoys (Donal and his wife, Jennifer) will host various events and welcome visiting chefs in the kitchen. First up is Ranch Road Taco Shop, with a menu for their pop up that includes specialties such as Conchinita Pibil (Yucatan pulled pork), Blackened Catfish Tacos and Pomegranate Guacamole, with Donal whipping up Serrano’s house-made sangria and other magical alcoholic potions from behind the bar.

The Ranch Road Taco Shop pop-up runs from 5:00 PM to midnight, Wednesdays through Saturdays, from July 16, 2014, through early August. For more info call 215.928.0770.
