|Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz will tour clubs this Fall|
As soon as Miley Cyrus finished hosting the season opener of NBC's Saturday Night Live (SNL) on October 3, the singer's PR team went into full-swing and sent post-midnight press releases announcing a special limited-run club tour that would start on November 19, 2015 in Chicago, and includes dates in New York City, Washington DC, Detroit, Philadelphia and Boston. For this tour, Cyrus is accompanied by Her Dead Petz aka Wayne Coyne's Flaming Lips, who, with the singer, released the internet-only album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. Tickets go on sale October 7 at 4 p.m. EST at http://www.Ticketmaster.com.
Along with hosting SNL's 41st season premiere, Cyrus also performed as the show's musical guest. After being introduced by special guest star Hillary Clinton, Cyrus first performed a stirring, synth-heavy version of "Karen Don't Be Sad" with members of the Flaming Lips dressed in furry animal costumes. For her second number, "The Twinkle Song," Cyrus replaced the band with photos of her recently deceased pets such as Pablow the blowfish and Floyd the husky, and played the song on her own – just her and a piano. By the time she finished the heartfelt ballad, Cyrus was in tears. Then again, the whole album is moving - Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, released for free on August 30, 2015 (following her appearance as host of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards), is bathed in raw emotionalism and passionate vocal touches. It's one of the year's best albums.
The dates for Cyrus' Dead Petz tour are 11/19, Chicago, Riviera Theatre; 11/21, Detroit, The Fillmore; 11/27, Washington, DC, Echostage; 11/28, NYC, Terminal 5; 12/5, Philadelphia, Electric Factory; 12/6, Boston, House of Blues.
