Katie Holmes is the first celebrity model for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics |
For the first time since the brand debuted over 20 years ago, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics has signed on a celebrity model: actress Katie Holmes.
Beginning in 2013, Holmes, age 33, will appear in print ads, on counter displays, and in editorial features for the company. The partnership will be further evident when Bobbi Brown herself fills the position of lead makeup artist at the Spring/Summer 2013 Holmes & Yang Fashion Show, the clothing line founded by Katie Holmes and her business partner, celebrity stylist Jeanne Yang.
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics was launched in 1991 with ten lipsticks, and quickly grew into a wildly successful line: it is now in over 60 countries worldwide with a full range of color cosmetics, skincare, fragrance and accessories. Brown has also authored several widely read books including Bobbi Brown Beauty in 1998, and Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty in 2001. Her newest book, Pretty Powerful (with contributor Sara Bliss), will be released on September 26, 2012.
Bobbi Brown's makeup is often favored by women who are going for a natural, neutral application as opposed to a more theatrical or flashy look. Holmes seems to embody this ideal with an effortless glamour that Brown likens to “a modern day Ali McGraw”. Like McGraw, Holmes is a tall, brunette beauty and a proven trendsetter; she regularly appears in best-dressed columns and receives frequent praise for her hair and makeup choices.
"Katie is a classic natural beauty, entrepreneur, and mother”, says Brown. “When I met her, I thought she was a natural fit for my brand, and felt an instant connection with her."
While Katie Holmes has been a tabloid target due to her marriage and subsequent divorce from actor Tom Cruise, she appears undaunted as she heads into 2013 with upcoming roles on Broadway (in the new play Dead Accounts) and in film (in the upcoming Responsible Adults), her own fashion line, and now this new profile as the face of Bobbi Brown.
