Chef Mike Isabella will be cooking at Sbraga on September 18 |
On Tuesday, September 18, Bravo's Top Chef alumni Kevin Sbraga (season 7 winner) and Mike Isabella (Top Chef All-Stars runner-up) will team up for a special dinner at Sbraga restaurant in Philadelphia. The chefs will collaborate on the menu for this one-night event.
Sbraga is a 60-seat restaurant run by Chef Kevin Sbraga and his wife, Pastry Chef Jesmary Sbraga. Their seasonal menus are noted for unusual flavor combinations, and reviewers frequently sing the praises of Kevin's decadent foie gras and rose soup and Jesmary's innovative reworking of classic treats like her orange creamsicle dessert (our Spring 2012 review of Sbraga can be seen here).
Chef Mike Isabella is based in Washington, D.C., where he owns several restaurants including Graffiato (Italian) and Bandolero (Mexican). Isabella was recently named The People’s Best New Chef Mid-Atlantic for 2012 in Food & Wine magazine. On September 25, he will release his first cookbook, Mike Isabella's Crazy Good Italian, featuring recipes from his childhood in New Jersey and his season on Top Chef.
Together Sbraga and Isabella have created an Italian-influenced menu that begins with an amuse-bouche of zucchini vichyssoise, then moves on to the four-course meal with pork belly fettuccini, scallops with calamari noodles, veal straccato (Italian pot roast), and a dessert of rum raisin rice pudding with banana fritter.
The prix fixe menu for the dinner is $85 per person (plus tax and gratuity), the optional beverage pairing is $35, and this will be the only menu available on that evening. Reservations are required.
