X Factor Season 2 Episode 6 – The Final Night of Auditions

X Factor judge Simon Cowell gave Lauren Jauregui two thumbs up
By GLAMOROSI

For the final night of The X Factor season 2 auditions we met five singers who were fun, lovesick, heavenly, talented beyond their years and sparkly, in that order. Judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato didn't always agree on who to send to boot camp though; in several cases contestants made it through with only 3 out of 4 yeses.

Trevor Moran
Episode 6 picked up where episode 5 left off - backstage in San Francisco, CA with Trevor Moran, 13, passed out on the floor. Thankfully he was just dehydrated, and after being attended to by paramedics he was able to audition. He sang “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO and busted some moves. Trevor was a lot of fun to watch, although Simon told him, “I’m not entirely sure that was age appropriate”. He also added, “You will be remembered for this performance.” Trevor got all four judges approval to move on to boot camp.

Owen Stuart
Then the action shifted to Greensboro, NC. Owen Stuart, age 16, recently moved to North Carolina from New York, and he was lovesick for “Tori”, the girlfriend he left behind. In fact, if he wins the five million, they are getting married. He sang "Airplanes" by B.o.B – the singing part was shaky, but the rapping part was better. Simon found him to be, “Very committed, very focused, very passionate.” Owen got 3 out of 4 yeses – Britney passed on him because he didn’t wow her.

Freddie Combs
Freddie Combs, 40, is a minister who used to be 920 lbs., but now weighs 540. He said he wanted the judges to look past his exterior and “give a fat boy a chance”. His powerful, church-like vocals on Bette Midler's “Wind Beneath My Wings” brought the audience to its feet. L.A. said his voice was “heavenly”, Demi described it as “touching”, and Simon said he had a vision of Freddie standing and healthy (his weight keeps him confined to a wheelchair). Simon also made a deal that if Freddie would “work hard to sort this out”, he would back him. He got four yeses.

Next we saw the obligatory bad auditions including one contestant who beat up the backstage area and spat at the camera.

Lauren Jauregui
Lauren Jauregui, 16, was talented beyond her years. She brought a large contingent of family members to the audition, and said her parents work hard so she wants to give back. She sang “If I Aint Got You” by Alicia Keys in a husky, mature voice that got a “thumbs up” from Simon who said, “That Lauren, is how you do it”, and L.A. Reid added, “The competition just got stiffer because of you.” All four judges said “yes” to Lauren.

Jordyn Foley
For the last audition of X Factor season 2 we were once again in San Francisco where we met Jordyn Foley, 12, a pigtail wearing, sparkle loving, giggly girl in pink. She sang a song Simon “hates” - “Tomorrow” from the Broadway show Annie. It wasn’t great, but Jordan herself was; she was so enthusiastic I was happy for her when 3 out of 4 judges put her through (Simon declined), but boot camp is going to be tough when she has to deliver alongside radio-ready contestants her age like Carly Rose Sonenclar and Diamond White.

Next week, Boot Camp begins. The X Factor airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on FOX. For three weeks beginning 9/28, encore presentations of the auditions will air Fridays at 8/7c
