Trace Adkins and Dennis Rodman on All-Star Celebrity Apprentice |
For season 6, episode 6 of NBC’s All-Star Celebrity Apprentice titled “How Do You Spell Melania”, Donald Trump involves his missus in the battle between Team’s Power Project Manager Dennis Rodman and Plan B’s Penn Jillette. This week the teams are charged with designing an ad campaign for the new skincare line, Melania Caviar Complexe. Jillette wins, but only because Rodman’s team misspells the name of the boss’ wife ("Milania" instead of the correct “Melania"). The one-time basketball player gets fired because of this blunder, and for the first time this season, Trump seems genuinely sorry to see a player go.
Rodman starts this episode gloating about his bravery from the previous week. He didn’t shrink in fear from the evil Omarosa as other players had (“I wasn’t afraid of her ass”) and was rewarded for his valor. That’s the champion b-baller in him, the man that Donald Trump recognized as this season’s “comeback kid.” It's a far cry from the last time that Rodman participated in Celebrity Apprentice in 2009 and lost, sadly because he was in a druggy, drunken stupor.
When this week’s challenge comes up – to create an advertising campaign for Melania Trump’s new skincare line, Melania Caviar Complexe – Rodman stands up, takes charge and becomes Team Power’s Project Manager. Team Power’s Trace Adkins notes that Rodman has “the most skin" before coming up with their tag line (“Simply Melania, Simply Luxury”) and graphic display. After that, Lil Jon decides to buy up everything gold to use as props, and their photo shoot begins.
Plan B’s blustering Penn Jillette steps up to the challenge of Project Manager, tells Lisa Rinna and Marilu Henner to buy up all the caviar they can for their advertorial photo shoot, and comes up with the tagline, “Let Your Skin Taste the Luxury”.
Speaking of taglines, Plan B’s Gary Busey comes up with two Busey-isms this week. There’s the inappropriate, “Have you ever had your genitalia so excited that it spins like a Ferris wheel on a carnival ride?” comment when he thinks about “Melania’s beauty living 5,000 miles past Heaven.” Then there is the more practical of the night’s Busey-isms, a product tag stating how Melania’s development of a skincare line is “no longer a secret weapon; it is now a secret miracle.”
Jillette makes one big mistake during Plan B’s presentation: he refers to Melania as the product’s “spokesperson” rather than its creator. “I’ve worked hard for ten years to develop this,” says Melania.
Team Power's misspelled ad |
Melania's flummoxed. The task’s advisors Eric and Ivanka Trump are aghast. And when it comes to the boardroom, even Team Power is taken aback by its screw-up. The only person more bothered by their blunder is Donald Trump, who awards Plan B the night’s prize of $40,000 total for Jillette’s charity, Opportunity Village (for the intellectually challenged) without blinking.
Maybe Adkins should have double-checked the spelling of Melania’s name as he was the guy responsible for the tag. Yet, as Adkins reminds Trump, Rodman signed off on everything. Rodman brings Adkins back to the boardroom, and mutters a few words about the misspelling being a “minor mistake.” Yet Donald Trump sees it as “the ultimate error." Even after calling Rodman the "comeback player of the year," Trump regrettably fires him. Before Rodman leaves, Ivanka Trump says how proud she is of him. "I have a lot of respect for Dennis," she says. That’s nice.
Next week, both teams must make a silent movie to promote Australian Gold products. We hear Team Power’s Brande Roderick battles the ultimate Plan B Project Manager: Gary Busey.
