‘Let Them Eat Cake’ Competition in New Jersey to Benefit City of Hope

On Monday, April 15, professional bakers, pastry chefs and students will present their finest fondant creations at the 9th annual “Let Them Eat Cake” competition at the Marion in Cinnaminson, New Jersey (1301 Route 130 South). All proceeds from the event benefit cancer research and treatment at City of Hope.

This year’s theme is “A Night at the Movies”, and will feature confections from over 40 participants including the Restaurant School of Walnut Hill and The Art Institute of Philadelphia. Truly Custom Cakery, who won three awards for their circus-themed entry at last year's show, will compete again this year. Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, Most Artistic, Best Tasting, Best Theme, and the People’s Choice.

Winners will be selected by a host of judges including culinary professionals and local celebrities: Master pastry chef Ron Ben-Israel from the Food Network cooking show Sweet Genius; Kathy Gold, President of Les Dames D'Escoffier; Lari Robling, Food Writer; Natanya DiBona, co-chair of Diner en Blanc Philadelphia; and Marilyn Russell, radio host from BENFM.

Attendees will be treated to samplings, complimentary champagne and live music. Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door. The event begins at 6:00 p.m., parking is free.
