The Universal Warrior Fantasy Hair Competition benefits City of Hope |
This weekend in Philadelphia, PA, City of Hope – one of the nation’s top cancer research hospitals and treatment centers – celebrates its COH Hair Ball, now known as Universal Warrior: Fantasy Hair Competition, at Voyeur nightclub in Philly's Midtown Village. Area salons will compete with their best creations, all with a futuristic theme, for prize packages worth over $5000. The contest will be judged by a panel of Philadelphia media and celebrities, and will feature a performance by Brittany Lynn’s Drag Mafia.
The annual Universal Warrior event acts as the local finale to the HopeCuts Mid-Atlantic 2013 campaign, a beauty industry fundraising effort for cancer and HIV/AIDS research through City of Hope. This year, the Philly area’s finest salons will present looks with a future-forward science fiction theme, so expect lots of alien hair-dos and star-warring styles to battle for Universal Warrior supremacy. These entries will be judged by a panel of area notables such as food magnate/actor Tony Luke Jr., G-Philly editor Josh Middleton, local sports media personality Tony Bruno, Tango traffic reporter Gina Gannon, PHL17-TV’s Zach Lashway, and Glamorosi Magazine’s husband and wife team: A.D. Amorosi and me, Glamorosi.
One of the night's brightest highlights (and we're not talking hair dye) will be a performance by renowned cross-dressing stars, Brittany Lynn's Drag Mafia.
Universal Warrior: Fantasy Hair Competition is Saturday, November 2, 8:00 PM, at Voyeur (1225 St. James Place) with a $10 cover. All proceeds go to City of Hope. For more information call 1.800.344.8169 or visit HopeCuts.org.
