The Brewer's Plate is an annual beer and food pairing in Philadelphia, PA |
The Brewer’s Plate, Philadelphia’s annual tasting event from restaurateur Judy Wicks’ Fair Food non-profit organization, celebrates its tenth year this weekend when participating local chefs, brewers, growers, and cheese mongers meet at the Kimmel Center on Sunday, March 9, for unique beer and food pairings and the good cause of uniting area farmers with businesses and consumers devoted to sustainability.
Along with tables displaying the wares of local restaurants and brewers in an all-you-can-eat-and-drink setting, the 10th anniversary of the Brewer's Plate Fair Food fundraiser will feature several new elements like a Locavore Lounge and a Sausage Showdown.
The Locavore Lounge will serve food by Barren Hill Tavern, Bobolink Dairy, Choptank Oyster Company, Doe Run Dairy, Donna & Company Artisanal Chocolates and more, with beer provided by Conshohocken Brewery, Dock Street Brewery, Evil Genius Beer, Philadelphia Distilling and Victory Brewing Company.
A Sausage Showdown (in the VIP area) titled “The Best of the Wurst”, will be judged by notables including The Food Network's Marc Summers and the Philadelphia Eagles' Brent Celek, and will feature Garces Group restaurants and its catering division in a battle for the sausage and beer combo of the decade. Another competition finds the Angry Orchard Cider House hosting five Philly bartenders battling for the King of the Brewer’s Plate cider cocktail crown.
The Brewer's Plate is on March 9, 2014 beginning at 5:30 PM at The Kimmel Center, 300 S Broad Street, Philadelphia PA, 19102, 215.670.2300. General admission tickets, $65 per person; VIP tickets, $135. For more info visit BrewersPlate.com.
