Curtis Stone and Gail Simmons from Bravo's Top Chef Duels |
The next two-week period is a good one for fans of Bravo’s Top Chef. While its Season 7 victor Kevin Sbraga initiates his “Culinary Collective” (four nights of fine dining surprises along Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Row, August 4-7) with a pre-party at his namesake restaurant on August 1, Top Chef’s new spinoff series, Top Chef Duels, begins on August 6, and the list of returning chefs is impressive.
Kevin Sbraga and Starr Restaurants' Danielle DelRe came up with the idea of the “Culinary Collective” to show off the look of Rittenhouse Row’s restaurants (as a destination point) and the immense talents of its chefs, while hosting unusual dining experiences. This means that Sbraga restaurant on Broad Street in Philly will host a Jersey shore dinner, that COOK’s culinary learning center/kitchen will hold a preview of V (the vegan bar from the creators of Vedge), that there will be a degustation menu from famed classical French chef Georges Perrier at The Crow & the Pitcher. You can find the times, prices, addresses and further collaborations at Rittenhouserow.org.
Top Chef Duels, hosted by celebrity chef Curtis Stone with judges such as Gail Simmons, Wolfgang Puck and Hugh Acheson, features one-on-one battles between culinary artists from past episodes of the assorted Top Chef series. Competitors include David Burke (Top Chef Masters season 5), Kristen Kish (Top Chef season 10 winner), Jen Carroll (Top Chef season 6 finalist), Richard Blais (Top Chef All-Stars season 8 winner), and fourteen other dueling for world domination. Top Chef Duels premieres Wednesday, August 6 at 10e/9c on the Bravo network.
