When pianist and singer Antony and friends Kembra Pfahler, Johanna Constantine and CocoRosie’s Bianca Casady and Sierra Casady host their FUTURE FEMINISM exhibition and event series running September 11-27 at The Hole NYC, they’ll present a call to arms in the name of archetypal feminine values. The event showcases famously independent women such as transgressive spoken word artist and actress Lydia Lunch, poet Anne Waldman, performance art queen Marina Abramović and Laurie Anderson.

Antony has long been a feminist and forward thinking activist. One of his tenets for the FUTURE FEMINISM event is that “the subjugation of women and the earth is one in the same.” To that end, Antony’s team has gathered some of the avant-garde’s most dynamic speakers and performers for what promises to be a series of incendiary conversations.

During the course of the event, audiences can expect Lunch (9/13) and Waldman (9/19) to be the most jarring wordsmiths. Sunday, September 14, however, should prove to be a momentous occasion within FUTURE FEMINISM, and one filled with emotion and adventure. After opening act Clark Render performing as “Margaret Thatcher” (wig and all), Laurie Anderson will make her first stage appearance since the October 2013 death of her husband, Lou Reed. There is no word yet as to what Anderson will do – will she sing, will she read? No matter, whatever she chooses will be worth the audience's attention.

The Hole NYC is located at 312 Bowery, New York, New York, 10012, phone: 212.466.1100. For a list of FUTURE FEMINISM’s performers, dates, ticket info and show times visit TheHoleNYC.com.
