'Do No Harm' TV Series to Shoot in Philadelphia on September 10

A tattered production notice for Do No Harm in Philadelphia

Last night signs were posted between 10th and 11th on Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia to alert residents that the NBC TV drama Do No Harm would be filming in the area. The action will take place on September 10 between 7 AM and 9 PM, but there will be “no parking” signs posted in the neighborhood beginning on September 9, so that equipment trucks and other production vehicles can be positioned in advance of filming.

Do No Harm is a medical thriller based on the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  Actor Steven Pasquale (Rescue Me) plays Jeffrey Kohn, a doctor with a dark secret described on the notices as “a brilliant neurosurgeon with an alter-ego who threatens to undo everything he has accomplished". The alternate personality is named “Ian Price”.

Pasquale’s co-stars include Alana De La Garza, Michael Esper, Ruta Gedmintas and iconic sitcom actress Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), who takes a turn at drama with her role as Dr. Vanessa Young, the Chief of Surgery in the hospital where Dr. Kohn practices medicine. On September 4, 2012, Nikki Finke’s Deadline.com had the exclusive on the news that series regular Mousa Kraish had been let go after two episodes and would be recast.

The series is written by David Schulner, who is also executive producer along with Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan and Michael Mayer, who also serves as the series' director.

In recent months Philadelphia has been the location for several Hollywood productions including previous shoots for Do No Harm, as well as Paranoia, a corporate espionage thriller with a cast featuring Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford and Liam Hemsworth (the production is currently on hiatus until December while Hemsworth films The Hunger Games: Catching Fire),  Dead Man Down, a film starring Colin Farrell, and Political Animals, a TV mini-series led by Sigourney Weaver.
