Long rumored to be the next Philly-filmed collaboration between director David O. Russell and actor Bradley Cooper after this November’s release of their other work together - Silver Linings Playbook - several entertainment trade papers including The Hollywood Reporter announced on Friday, October 5, what Cooper said aloud during the August premiere of The Words in Philadelphia: “…we’ll be back filming in Philly before spring 2013.”

Cooper was talking about the just-confirmed Russell flick (at one point titled American Bull****) that is now due to start filming in Philadelphia and its suburbs in February 2013. The movie will star Russell veterans Amy Adams and Christian Bale, both of whom were Oscar nominated for the director’s gripping The Boxer, and for which Bale ultimately won the Academy Award for as Best Supporting Actor.

In the still untitled Abscam-inspired flick, Bale will play a cunning con man, Adams his partner in life and crime, Cooper a sweaty crazed federal agent in cahoots with the slippery pair, and Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) as a hotheaded member of the New Jersey state assembly.

“Acting is a collaborative sport, and what you’re up against is telling the story, so you’re all on the same team,” said Cooper during an interview while promoting The Words. For a guy who has butted heads with Ed Helms, Mike Tyson and Zach Galifianakas (The Hangover) and Robert DeNiro (Limitless, Silver Linings Playbook), Cooper has quite a game ahead of him when he starts filming with Bale, Adams and Renner in Philly this winter.
