On season 16, week 5 of Dancing with the Stars, the couples competed in judge Len Goodman's “Side by Side” challenge in which they performed simultaneously with pros. The routines featured Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Anna Trebunskaya, Chelsie Hightower, Tony Dovolani, Tristan MacManus, and members of the DWTS troupe. Disney star Zendaya topped the leaderboard with 29 points; comedians Andy Dick and D.L. Hughley tied at the bottom with 18 points. On the week 5 results show, D.L. Hughley was eliminated.

The week 5 performance scores from judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are combined with the public votes, and hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet announce which couples are safe, and which couples are in jeopardy of going home. Before the results begin, there is a futuristic number from the DWTS troupe choreographed by Mark Ballas and Derek Hough; the dancers wear silver costumes and perform on a laser-lit floor under a giant moon.

The safe couples are country singer Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough; Disney star Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy; Superbowl champion Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff; Olympic gymnast Alexandra Raisman and Mark Ballas; The Bachelor star Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd; comedian Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess.

The couples who are in jeopardy are actor Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson; boxer Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold; comedian D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke.

During the results show we see performances: the judges select Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff to do an encore of their "Side by Side" jive dance with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trebunskaya. The Band Perry does their hit, “Better Dig Two," Kerli plays "Love Me or Leave Me" on a grand piano, and Selena Gomez performs the network television debut of “Come & Get It.”

Next Ingo and Kim are given a reprieve; they will be back next week. Then Victor and Lindsay get the good news that they will be returning, because D.L. Hughley and his pro partner Cheryl Burke are eliminated. D.L. says based on watching him in a video, that Len Goodman needs to work on his hip action. Burke and Bergeron both commend Hughley for how well he handled the criticism during his run on DWTS.

On next week’s DWTS there will be team dances to the music of Stevie Wonder, who will perform live.
