Made in America Festival 2014 Lineup Rumors for Philly and LA

Made in America Festival
Made in America will be in Philly and LA in August 2014

With news of a joint Beyoncé and Jay Z early-summer stadium tour, and Los Angeles finally on-board for a second, concurrently-running Made in America (MIA) – the Labor Day weekend music festival started by Jay Z, Live Nation, and Budweiser for the Philadelphia market – rumors are flying about who will headline at each of the MIA shows scheduled for August 30 and 31. Our sources have some great dirt about what’s going on at MIA Central, and the names are huge: an Eminem and Rihanna pairing (for Philly), as well as Outkast and Tom Petty.

Glamorosi Magazine has been telling you about the Eminem and Rihanna tour for some time; we dropped the exclusive first report on their joint tour back in November 2013. When that pair finally did announce their tour, it was for shockingly few stadium dates, without one set for Philadelphia. So, the current rumors swirling around about Em and Ri Ri headlining one of the Philly Made in America nights sound highly plausible. What doesn’t sound too likely though, is a Beyoncé/Jay Z headlining night at Philly’s MIA. Hova seems to strive to bring something new to MIA every year: he co-headlined the first Made in America (with Pearl Jam) during its first Philly weekend in 2012, with Beyoncé co-headlining MIA 2013 with Nine Inch Nails. Maybe it’s me, but I don’t see them pairing up for MIA Philly this year. Maybe they will play the LA show? Maybe the Beyoncé and Jay Z show will hit Philly's Lincoln Financial Field or Citizen’s Bank Park around July 4 when the pair play New York City?

The other big names floating around for the now bi-coastal Made in America festival includes the reunion-of-the-summer, Outkast (who are still without any Philly dates, so that rumor sounds plausible) and, suddenly, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The rumor bout Petty and his Heartbreakers is particularly exciting because this summer they are releasing their first album in four years, the blunt, rocking Hypnotic Eye, and, a 20th anniversary reissue of Wildflowers (featuring previously unreleased songs) soon after. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers only have one show (so far) on their docket: headlining San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival on Saturday August 9. Besides, who the heck is more American and perfect for Made in America than Tom Petty? I rest my case and stand by my rumors.

Without having worked out the details (like who is playing where), early bird tickets for both Made in America locations go on sale this weekend. For tickets visit MadeInAmericaFest.com.
