'True Blood' Season 6 Finale, Radioactive: Is Eric Dead, Where is Pam?

On the True Blood season 6 finale titled “Radioactive", Sookie’s life is once again endangered by a love interest – this time it's Warlow – but she is rescued by her brother Jason and Grandpa Niall. After Warlow dies, the vampires who partook of his blood (via Bill) are no longer protected from the sun, and Eric Northman, who is sunbathing in Sweden, catches fire. Is Eric dead, and where is Pam? Those questions weren't answered. What we do know is that Pam went to find Eric, Sookie is hooked up with Alcide, Sam Merlotte is the mayor of Bon Temps, and his constituents are in danger from Hep-V infected vampires if they don’t partner up with healthy vamps to protect them.

True Blood, season 6, episode 9, titled “Life Matters,” is split between two storylines: Bill and Eric’s separate raids on the Vamp Camp to save their friends from extinction, and the tender farewell to Terry Bellefleur during his military funeral. While the latter storyline is a satisfying end for the Terry character as his friends tell stories of how they met, the former, more violent tale (with several grisly scenes involving Dr. Overlark) ends with more questions, the main one being, where did Eric Northman go?

In True Blood season 6, episode 8, titled “Dead Meat,” Eric and Arlene deal with losing their loved ones: Eric is angry with Bill for not being able to help Nora, and at himself for believing in Bill; Arlene has moved on from yelling at Lafayette to yelling at Adilyn. Sookie considers Warlow’s proposal of eternal life, as it’s the only way Warlow will let Bill have his blood to protect the vamp camp prisoners from Sarah Newlin’s plan to burn them alive with sunlight. The vampires aren’t the only ones in danger from Sarah; this week she murders Tru-Blood rep Ms. Suzuki with a pair of killer heels.

True Blood season 6, episode 7, titled “In the Evening” begins with Eric and his dying sister Nora escaping the vampire prison camp, and ends with her dying in his arms. Sarah Newlin becomes the de facto head of state due to the Governor’s death. Bill asks Sookie to help him procure some of Warlow’s blood to prevent his visions of doom (the white room where his vampire friends are burned alive) from coming true. Arlene and her friends mourn the passing of her husband Terry, while Sookie and Lafayette investigate what he left behind in his safe deposit box.

True Blood season 6, episode 6, titled “Don't You Feel Me?" was the series’ saddest, most thrilling show so far. Terry Bellefleur was assassinated, per his arrangements. Bill drank Warlow’s blood, and it made him able to walk in the sun; he promptly headed over to Vamp Camp to free Jessica, his progeny, and decapitated Governor Burrell in the process. Sookie and Warlow drank each other’s blood and had sex. Never before during an episode of True Blood did I find myself crying and cheering so loudly.

True Blood season 6, episode 5 titled “F--k the Pain Away” isn’t as sexy as it sounds. Sookie wants answers about the relationship between her dead parents and the evil Warlow and gets drowned for her troubles. Warlow gets captured by his maker, Billith, and goes into flashback mode. Eric and Pam are imprisoned in Governor Burrell‘s internment camp are forced to fight for their lives.

In Season 6, episode 4 of True Blood, titled “At Last”, the blood-lusting vamps have their way with Bon Temps’ human populace and several young faeries. Sometimes, the vampires take it violently and by surprise, like when Jessica attacks Sheriff Andy’s faerie daughters. Other times, the outpouring of blood is by consent, like when Eric Northman turns Willa. Eric is by no means having a good week though: by episode’s end, all three of his women – Pam, Willa and Nora – are captured and sent to the vampire internment camp.

With Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) fighting different battles for the future of the vampire species, and the Stackhouse family warring against uber-vampire Warlow, True Blood season 6, episode 3, titled “You’re No Good,” is more transitional than action-packed. Still, there are some interesting turns in regard to Eric’s kidnap victim, the Governor’s daughter (Amelia Rose Blaire), religious zealot-turned-vamp, Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian) and, of course, his holy rolling, vindictive ex-wife Sarah (Anna Camp).

With True Blood currently dealing with serious issues that mirror racism and gay rights, it’s nice to see romance creeping into the picture as it does, ever-so-slightly, this week in season 6, episode 2 titled "The Sun". With Bill Compton’s “Billith” (Stephen Moyer) either transforming into a vampire-world savior or a pawn in Lilith’s evilest scheme yet, and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) busy gearing up for war against the government hell-bent on destroying his species, neither have time to consider love or sex with Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin). Luckily for her then, she meets a fellow faerie on her way to work.

The True Blood season 6 premiere episode titled, "Who Are You, Really?" started and ended with a fast, furious rush, and a focus on Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and his reincarnation as the newly super-empowered “Billith.” When faerie waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), aged vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) and their supernatural pals aren’t running from “Billith” and scratching their collective head as to what his motives might be, Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) is running into the arms (or, at least the car) of new character Niall Brigant/Macklyn Warlow (Rutger Hauer), the very vampire who killed his parents.

HSN Launches 'True Blood' Forsaken Beauty Line

At midnight on August 9, 2012, HSN debuted Forsaken, a beauty and home collection inspired by HBO’s hit vampire drama, True Blood.  The line includes cosmetics from celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann, perfume from Givaudan, and home fragrances from D.L. & Co.

Some of the products carry names that fans of the TV show will recognize:  Sookie Sookie is a nail polish duo ($25) inspired by the series’ female lead who is half fairy-half human, and contains two polishes: "Human Nature", described as “mortal putty taupe”, and "Fairydust", a polish with “ethereal shimmer”.  The Bad Things mini trio ($25) is titled after the series’ theme song (sung by Jace Everett), and contains three lacquers: "New Flesh" (clean nude),  "Strange Love" (vampy magenta), and "Bad Blood" (sheer black cherry). Other names evoke the mood and vibe of the show; Lippmann's Forsaken Lip and Nail Duet ($38) features "Bite me", a blackberry creme lipstick, and "Let it Bleed" a blood red lacquer scented with the Forsaken fragrance.  The packaging for the entire line is black and red with Gothic-style flourishes.

In recent years vampire lore has provided inspiration for several cosmetics companies. In 2012, NYX ( a company named for the Greek goddess of the night) released The Crimson Amulet Collection with a limited edition palette that includes eye shadow, lipstick and blush inspired by Dark Shadows, the Tim Burton-directed movie based on the 60s/70s cult classic TV series of the same name. In 2009 DuWop Cosmetics partnered with author Stephanie Meyer to create blush and lip gloss for their signature Venom line in colors inspired by her Twilight saga. DuWop cosmetics were also used by makeup artists on the set of Twilight: New Moon.
