On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, from 5-9 PM, QFest 2012 will host a free indoor-outdoor party at Philadelphia's Havana Room at the Piazza at Schmidts in Northern Liberties. This isn't your usual happy hour. The event is the preview for the QFest's 18th annual Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (July 12-23), a celebration of LGBT films and filmmakers from around the globe and down the block.
While the film portion of QFest honors actor David W. Ross, writer/director/producer Rose Troche and activist Ellen Ratner at events throughout the 13 day extravaganza, June 26's festivities will be sponsored by Smirnoff Vodka, Coors Light, TLA Releasing & The Contarino Association and will feature an open bar from 5-6 PM, a press conference, tastings, and the first-ever “Fluffed and Whipped Rockstar Bartender Competition”.
Bartenders will compete for prizes including a pair of Madonna's "M.D.N.A." Philadelphia World Tour Tickets, a pair of VIP Phillies tickets, and the opportunity to guest bartend a QFest party at Sugarhouse Casino. The competition will be hosted by Mike Jerrick of Fox 29 News and judged by celebutantes like me and my missus, Glamorosi.
