Chef David Ansill at Bar Ferdinand in Philadelphia PA |
When Bar Ferdinand hosts its end-of-summer, six-course Tomato and Wine dinner on Thursday, August 29, it won’t just be a chance for Executive Chef David Ansill to show off his skills. Designer/Bar Ferdinand owner Owen Kamihira’s Spanish tapas restaurant, now in its sixth year, will also welcome Hood Rich Farms’ Jack Goldenberg to the party.
Diners who recall Chef David Ansill's inspired menus at Pif and Ansill can testify that he’s brought all of his tricks to Bar Ferdinand’s kitchen since joining Kamihira last year. The inventive chef will take advantage of peak tomato season with his varied cooking forms: roasting tomatoes with lamb and goat cheese during one course, processing them into a gazpacho with crab meat for another, creating a unique BLT with a tomato conserva. Jack Goldenberg from Kensington’s Hood Rich Farms will discuss the origin of each heirloom tomato featured during the dinner. Wine pairings from various regions of Spain complement each course.
