The Philadelphia Phillies may not be having the most winning season, but at least its players and their recently (and wrongly, in our opinion) ousted manager Charlie Manuel are making the most of it. Last Thursday, Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi hosted their annual Diamonds and Denim event for The Hamels Foundation charities. Today, August 23, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, the Phils’ ex-manager Charlie Manuel hosts his final Talk Radio 1210 WPHT show at The Shops at Liberty Place (1625 Chestnut Street). Manuel will show early at 10:00 AM to greet his many well-wishers.

Cole and Heidi Hamels’ fourth annual Diamonds and Denim event at Vie on N. Broad Street (Thursday, August 15) found its participants dressed down (as opposed to wearing charity’s usual uniform of gowns and tuxes). The Hamels Foundation supports student education in the United States, and is establishing schools in Malawi, Africa. Philadelphia Eagles’ legend Vince Papale and Philly.com reporter Maria Papadakis were among the invited guests who helped make the Diamonds and Denim event shine.

This week, ex-Phillies manager Charlie Manuel was on his goodbye tour, hanging out at SportsRadio94WIP for its “Tribute to Charlie Manuel” with show hosts Anthony Gargano, and Glen Macnow before stopping by his “Phillies Nation” party at the Field House (1150 Filbert Street). Today, fans and friends get one more chance to hear Manuel do his thing for 1210 WPHT with co-host Ricky Ricardo at Liberty Place. Charlie, you’ll be missed.
