By REESE AMOROSI

Previously on the Dance Moms midseason finale, we said "hello" to studio owner Abby Lee Miller's new "Junior Select Ensemble," and "goodbye" to the tumultuous first half of season 4. It didn't end with a bang though – it was, despite the mama drama (I'm looking at you, Kira and Christy with a Y) – a softer show, with members of the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) offering Abby hugs following her mother's death. This week on Dance Moms season 4, episode 17 titled "Seeing Red," executive producer Jeff Collins hosts, Abby discusses her mother, the wronged moms rehash, and Christi talks about former cast member, Kelly Hyland. The ALDC performs, and rival dance teacher Cathy Nesbitt-Stein visits.

Along with losing her beloved dog, Floyd, Cyrus reportedly had what her publicity reps call “a severe allergic reaction” to a series of antibiotics taken to treat a sinus infection. After suffering an allergic attack on April 15, Cyrus was hospitalized and had to cancel a slew of April live dates for her platinum-plated Bangerz album, and is rescheduling them for August. On the plus side, demand for Miley is so massive, she’s added two additional dates, one in Pittsburgh, PA, and one in Chicago, IL. Cyrus' new tour schedule is listed below.

Prince Signs New Warner Brothers Deal, Releases Single 'The Breakdown'

By A.D. AMOROSI

Nearly twenty years ago, Prince wrote “SLAVE” on his forehead to protest that his longtime label, Warner Brothers, wouldn’t allow him to own the original masters (for albums like the multi-platinum Purple Rain) or release music on a more regular basis. Prince was so chuffed, he stopped recording for Warners, became "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince," and adopted a glyph in place of his name.  On April, 18, Prince and Warners kissed-and-made-up with a fresh agreement that sees the release of previously unheard music (including  a new album in 2014) and a re-mastered catalog, while giving him ownership of his master recordings. To celebrate, Prince dropped a new single, “The Breakdown,” on April 19.

Under the Gunn, the Project Runway spinoff starring Tim Gunn, recently named 40-year-old, Cuban-born designer Oscar Lopez as the winner of its premiere season. At the final runway show held at the Los Angeles Theater, Lopez competed against Asha Daniels (25), Sam Donovan (23) and Shan Keith (33), but it was his sophisticated 5-piece collection that wowed the show's regular panel – celebrity stylist Jen Rade, Marie Claire magazine's senior fashion editor Zanna Roberts Rassi, and designer Rachel Roy – along with guest judges Heidi Klum and Neil Patrick Harris. During my phone conversation with Oscar, I was charmed by his positive attitude, enthusiasm for his work and his melodic accent.

Our Top Choices to Replace David Letterman on 'Late Show'

By A.D. AMOROSI

When David Letterman announced his upcoming retirement from CBS’ The Late Show last week, he created a seismic shift in the nighttime talk circuit. Of course, we’re heartbroken that after 22 years (at the end of 2015, if that’s when he chooses to leave) on CBS, and 33 years total when you include his time at NBC, that Letterman will vacate his perch as television talk’s snarkiest dog. The real tremors come from the names that have been bandied about as Letterman’s replacement – from the best (Stephen Colbert) to the worst (Chelsea Handler) – as well as big celebrities that we think could do the desk justice.

Before she leaves, Abby cuts Nia Frazier from the group routine and auditions dancers for Mackenzie Ziegler's upcoming video shoot.

With the American premiere of producer Cameron Mackintosh’s new extra-Gothic take on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera recently opened in Philadelphia at the Academy of Music, it’s only fitting that one of its leads hail from the area.
